LOTO Basics
What is LOTO?
Lockout/tagout is the practice of isolating power and other energy sources before repair, maintenance, cleaning, testing, or adjustment work begins.
- Lockout prevents unauthorized operation while work is active.
- Tagout communicates that equipment is locked and must not be operated.
- Good LOTO practice keeps equipment in a safe state until authorized recovery.
When Required
